A fine long Berber flissa sword with a curved blade Late 19th early 20th c
A fine long Berber flissa sword with a curved blade - Algeria, late 19th early 20th century. Unusual curved blade (most of the time the blade has a yatagan shape). Traditional handle figuring a chimera or a bird head. The handle is made of wood covered with brass sheet in repoussé. Scabbard made of carved wood.

4 of the iron collars of the scabbard have movement. But the whole thing is strongly attached. Total length 90cm (35 1/2). Length without scabbard 88cm (34 1/2).

Blade length 77cm (30 1/4). Weight without scabbard 560gr (19,75oz). Don't hesitate to have a look at my other items. For any questions, feel free to ask.
