Mughal India (Deccan) - dating from the mid 18th century. A heavy cast copper alloy (brass) huqqa, of globe form and resting on an applied tapering foot, (it is possible that the foot rim was added during the second half of the 18th century - mentioned for accuracy of description). The neck rises through a central collar type embellishment to the form the tapering socket at the opening. The surface is finished with complex chiseled decoration - the decoration of floral form, set between bands of lotus petals, detailed by the additional images.
Image 11, details a pin punched inscription to an area close the foot rim. Overall height - 7 1/4 (184mm). Weight - 1,481 grams. Associated with genuine age and usage.
