ANTIQUE BRONZE COPPER PERSIAN MIDDLE EAST BEDOUIN CAMEL BELLS 1800s GONG CHIMES
Set of 6 graduated bronze & copper camel bells from the mid-late 1800s. Each bell is embossed with a. Variety of animals and engraved. A camel, gazelle, rabbit and the Persian lion on the first and last bell. The largest bell is 5" Diameter x 11" L.

It has the Persian Lion and Sun on it. The "reddish" tone bells have more copper content.

No maker's marks- there wouldn't have been makers. The bells have a lovely voice. Top bell is 11" x 5.5" D. These bells were hand made for each camel. There are six bells in one hanging.

They look to be from 1850. There wouldn't have been makers marks during this period. Camels would wear these bells for the.

Owners to hear and know where they were. Some only would have one camel that wore the bell and others. Each bell had a different symbol or design to give meaning to the camel and family of.

The crest markings are the sterling and done under English rein. This is made of silver and the English crown is a marking of whoever the reining king was at the time it was.

Some bells were silver and worked. Some were made of a pot metal and cast in sand. Worked into the metal I do not believe it is applied as these were meant to last and if they attached the decor it. Would have came off over time and usage.

I have reviewed the photos again very slowly these are cast bells. You can see the edging on the symbols where there is after burn from the molten metal. These do not look to be cast in sand but of a wax form, they would make the bells out of wax in. The metal was then poured in to the molds and set.

When they were cool to touch the mold was. Opened or broke and out came the bell.

To roll the metals and work the symbols took greater time. And that was all done by hand. I did not see a seam on the bells so I do not believe they are rolled and hand. By their very nature furnishings & folks of a certain age have time honored wear commensurate with.

These blemishes & flaws are what give them history & character. Memories and move effortlessly through the generations, ECHOing the past. Mix of the romantic, the unruly, the timeless... Please ask questions if you don't see the information you need. WE ARE A COMPLETE ESTATE LIQUIDATION SERVICE.
