Fine Old Antique Ottoman Middle Eastern Yataghan Dagger Wootz No Shamshir Sword
Being offered is a very nice old antique Ottoman yataghan short sword. This sword measures 19 1/2 in total length. It is a very old piece dating to the late 18th to early 19th century. The handle is iron covered in gold koftgari. There is some wear to the gold work but most of it remains. The iron has a nice black color which contrasts nicely with the gold. The blade has some gold inlay as well and appears to be wootz Damascus steel.
The scabbard is very fine. It is silver over wood and there is a tughra or silver mark on the scabbard.
Some research might reveal which Sultan this mark is associated with. Please view my other auctions for a great variety of swords, daggers, and tribal art.
