For sale we this extremely fine and rare unique circular Persian Islamic brass tray dating from late 19th century. The tray would have been made during the late Qajar era. It depicts the life of Prophet Yusef P.

H / also known as Joseph was the Bible and Torah. The tray has a very unique style. It has a band of spiraling calligraphy starting from the edge and spiraling around all the way to the centre. This band of script is used to create a structure for the depiction of the life of Yusef (Joseph). All the important stories of Joseph's life have been carefully hand chased into the tray - these including Joseph's dream of the Sun, the Moon and eleven stars bowing towards him. This is the very first scene starting near the edge at the bottom of the tray. Another scene of Joseph's brothers throwing him down the well has been beautifully portrayed.

A further scene shows Joseph as Z. Ulaikha rips his shirt from behind. All the important scenes have been magnificently hand chased into this masterpiece tray.

This is definitely one of my favourite trays that I have owned. The quality is breathtaking - I particularly love the high the standard of the chasing is of the script on the tray.

The diameter of the tray is 73.4cm = 28.9 inches. The tray is in very good condition. Please see the photos shown above.
