Finest Antique Islamic Damascus Mamluk Ottoman Silver + Copper Inlaid Brass Tray

PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT MY OTHER ITEMS FOR MORE MIDDLE EASTERN / ISLAMIC ITEMS. For sale we have this breathtaking antique Islamic Damascus tray. The tray dates from very early 1900's - between 1900 - 1920.

It is made from very thick brass which has been inlaid with silver and copper as well as being hand chased too. In the centre of the tray there is a silver inlaid panel with a beautiful shape which has been hand chased with Arabic script. This has been framed with a band of copper inlay all the way around, which spreads out into further silver inlay work, this time in a scrolling floral design.

The foliage has been highlighted with further copper inlaid detailing. There is also hand chased detailing over in the inlaid silver and copper which adds further detail in a subtle yet beautiful way. In the four corner areas, there are flat copper inlaid panels which have been overlaid with silver Arabic calligraphy. There is further silver inlaid foliage around each panel completed in a similar technique.

The four edges of the tray have been inlaid with further Arabic calligraphic bands, separated by circular arabesque motifs in each corner. Apart from the silver and copper inlay work, there are lots of hand chased detailing throughout the tray which really bring all aspects of the tray together and complete the tray beautifully.

This is a very high quality and decorative tray completed to a very high standard! The length tray is 32.3cm = 12.7 inches.

The width of the tray is 27.1cm = 10.7 inches. The tray is in very good condition overall. Please see the photos shown above.
