A couple of minor sections of silver inlay missing. Some wear nicks and rubbing. Wear commensurate with age and use.
A fine Cairoware brass dish. Decorated all over with superb quality silver damascene inlay Arabic inscriptions and Mamluk revival designs. The central roundel is made up of intertwining birds and arabesques, with a central Arabic inscription in gold inlay. The decoration has been carved deep into the dish, and then the damascene has been laid on top. This is the finest quality example of Mamluk revival metalware I have owned.
