This listing is for a very ornate huge antique samovar Middle Eastern rapousse kettle. It is beautifully worked with swirling curls of leaves in repeated close packed designs that encompass and encircle the body and lid of the samovar.

The body is raised on a beautifully shaped and pierced foot with cut out shapes..... The 2nd photo shows the three curved window shape with pointed apex often seen as in the iconic Moroccan and Indian architectural design feature. The hammered hand tooled work and the design is very arts and crafts style and date from the mid 19th century. I have rarely seen such a beautifully hand tooled piece of copper!! Please see all photos to show the inner workings of the kettle.

All pieces are present apart from the cover for the spout. This does not detract from its amazing beauty as a decorative object. There is no damage other than that stated, no dents or breakages other than that commensurate with age.....

I have not cleaned it (as yet)... If and when I do I will post more photos.... I found this information on Google search.... Antique samovars such as this one were heated with coal or charcoal and consisted of multiple pieces: a body containing the water, a faucet near the bottom, a vertical metal pipe running along the container in which the fuel is burned to heat it the water, and a teapot that can be placed on top of the body after the water boils.

The teapot is used to brew a strong concentrate of tea, called zavarka in Russian, which is then diluted with boiled water from the main container. Typically, samovars are made out of iron, copper, brass, bronze, or tin, and they vary in size. The last photo shows a copper ladle also with fine rapousse engraved hand tooling of a different pattern... If you require more details please message me...
