For sale is is this breathtaking antique Persian solid silver box. The box has been hand chased by a very important and famous silversmith - BIRYAEI. BIRYAEI'S works are of the superior quality as you can see from this marvelous box. There is a fantastic scene of ferocious lions attacking wild goats. The work is of a fantastic standard.

Look at the detail to tthe Goat's fur and the expression on the faces of the Lions! There is also some stunning floral motifs hand chased with deep, crisp lines.

The side of the box has been chased with a very fine floral pattern. It has been tested and is guaranteed to be solid silver of high purity 875 grade. It has been hallmarked with the numbers 84 and also have been hallmarked with the maker's name - BIRYAEI. The 84 hallmark represents silver purity of 87.5%. It was introduced into Persia by the Soviet Union (Russians) in the early 1900's.

The diameter of the box is 16.5cm The height of the box is 5.8cm. The box weighs a very impressive 452.3 grams. They box is in excellent condition, no major damage, so it would make an excellent addition to your Persian silverware.

The only thing worth mention is, there are a couple of slight cracks near the edge near the bottom of the lid. However these cracks are only on the surface and do not show on the underside of the box, so it is nothing serious, that would affect the structural integrity of the lid.
