The Back of the plate is marked in gold The Imperial Plate of Persia with the approval of his Majesty Mohammad Reza Pahlavi Aryamehr Shahanshah of Iran. Marked Spode England bone china. This plate has been produced in 1971 in a Limited edition of 10,000 to commemorate the 2500 Years of Persian Monarchy.

Diameter of plate is 10 1/2 inches (27cm) and the decoration is of 22 carat gold with rich enamels. The design is done by Harold Holdway, The Spodes Art Director, exclusively made for the Imperial Persia / Iran. Symbolizes the anniversary by representing the recent days of Persian Empire in center of the plate in the form of the coat of Arms of Pahlavi Dynasty and the origins of Empire in the border with a design inspired by Achaemenian art.

This border is based upon cavetto cornices above the doorways of private palace of Darius the Great at Persepolis on rich ground of turquoises. It is completed by an outer border of the rosettes which were the most widely used of all Achaemenian symbols. You will get the original box & brochure with colorful pictures of the plate and Persepolis palace of Darius the Great. As well as a complete description of the 2500 anniversary of founding father of the Persian Empire, Cyrus the Great, who issued the first proclamation of human rights granting Equality to all individuals.

These plates are over thirty-six years old. They are no longer being made, and cannot be replaced. They were made of the best quality materials, by a company that is in business for 100s of years, and have the magnificent Persian Coat of Arms on it.
