After some research, I was able to determine this item's origins. Likely came back with a soldier to the United States around WW1. You don't get a patina like that on brass without great age, and I know what fake chemically-applied patinas look like - this isn't.
Some of these go for thousands of dollars. It stands 10 inches tall, is 5 inches wide, and weighs just short of a pound. The hammered scene depicts an elephant, an ox, a camel, and an antelope, as well as some trees, vines and decorative patterning. Suspected to be Ottoman in origin. It has not been cleaned or altered in ANY way! A great showpiece for a collector of Middle-Eastern antiques, this object will only increase in value with age. There are many photos, take a good look! I often accept reasonable offers. Feel free to make me one. This item has age wear - otherwise there is no actual damage!
