This coco de mer shell kashkul bowl is an emblematic accoutrement of the wandering dervish. It is beautifully embellished with finely carved decoration over the entire surface. There are flowers and tendrils, a two headed serpent, a bear type creature with mystical serpent head on the bottom and Islamic writing around the entire piece.

The metal chain is attached to two brass rings. The piece is sturdy but supple, feeling like leather. The patina is a rich brown.

Measures approximately 10 3/4" x 6" x 4 1/8. Incredible piece in well cared for condition.

Please review all photos carefully for condition and consideration.
