19th Century Middle Eastern Persian Copper Water Ewer Jar. For your consideration is this. 12 1/2" tall vessel with a flaring 8.25" diameter base which tapers up to a multiple ring neck under a round folded over spout with attached handle which curves down almost to the base, old unpolished hammered surface.
Good condition with the expected dents from use, as shown in pictures. It weighs just over 5 lbs. These copper vessels were used to store water overnight where the copper would help eliminate any bacteria in the water so it could be used the next day. This piece was made to be used rather than being a tourist ware item. There is an interesting dog eared joint about center of the jug joining top and bottom which seems unusual.
