A fine Tuareg takuba of a rare type with an European blade - 18th 19th century. Double edged blade engraved both sides with 2 very traditional crescent moons.
The blade is without doubt European. I think from the 19th century at least but could be earlier, from the 18th century.
Scabbard is made of 2 thin plates of wood covered with leather. There is an old collection tag on one side of the scabbard, but not readable.Stong and solid, no movement. The leather originaly covering the handle is missing. Length without scabbard 98cm (38 1/2 in).
Blade length 83cm (32 3/4 in). Weight without 928gr (32,7oz).
