Get Vendio Gallery - Now FREE! Arabian - dating from the first half of the 20th century. Hand raised and constructed from beaten sheet brass - the ornate cover base of wrought copper. The baluster form vessel incorporates a scrolling and tapering spout.
Punched and chiseled decoration embellishes the vessel and the applied handle. The scrolling handle is forked at the upper extreme, providing a pair of mounting lugs - both of which are tightly copper riveted in place.
The handle mounting also incorporates the cover hinge fulcrum. A pair of ornate brass stud form rivets secure the shaped and worked cover hinge. Copper based, the domed and enclosed brass cover is finished with simple stepped circular decoration - an ornate heavy finial is mounted at the upper most extreme, extending through the hollow form of the cover and riveted below. Internally, the vessel is fully tinned. Overall height - 11 3/4, (298mm). Signs of genuine age and usage.
