Antique, 16th - 18th century, Turkish Ottoman Islamic War Hammer Nadziak, with sturdy bronze head and rounded hammer-face, and down-curved faced beak-shaped rear-fluke, central block cut with two vertical grooves, and engraved with Arabic letters. Mounted on the wooden haft with the bronze collar at the top. REFERENCES: A Turkish Ottoman War hammer with very similar head, dated to the 16th - 17th century, is published in the Russian book TURKISH ARMS by E.
Please see the last picture in the listing. Overall length; 72 cm (28.35 inches). Length of the head; 17.5 cm (6.89 inches). CONDITION: In good condition considering its age, showing the age and usage, brass head slightly polished from old oxidation, wood haft cleaned from dirt and waxed. The wooden haft appears not to be from the 17th century, but was most likely later replaced, as it is common in this type of weapon since the wood haft often got broken.All items are guaranteed to be authentic antiques, and not reproductions.
