This is a fascinating Persian lacquer papier mache scribe box, qalamdan or ghalamdan in Persian, offered in beautiful rich original colors of the early to mid Qajar era depicting on the cover, lovely young women and man in lands in landscape with trees and sandsobserves. The astonishing miniature paintings on this polychrome scribe box is performed respecting ancient Persian poetry illustrating gorgeous ladies with their lovers, hunting scenes, landscapes, elaborate buildings, and floral designs. There is a minor chipping around the rear end of the box in addition to a slight discoloring on that area. With rounded ends and a sliding tray (all painted in fine floral designs), this magnificent scribe box measures 28 cm long, 5.2 cm wide, and 4.5 cm deep.
