Qajar Qalamdan Lacquered Papier Mache Quill Pen Case Painted. Here is a very intricate quill pen holder box, so called Qalamdan in Persian or Divit in Turkish.

Made out of black lacquered papier-mache and beautifully decorated with hand painted many faces figural scenes, domestic or scholar, reminiscent to the "1000 faces" Asian pattern. Qajar Empire from the mid 1800's. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE FOR MORE PHOTOS!

9" long, 1.25" x 1.25. Signs of wear consistent with age and use. Good patination, minor spots of missing paint and varnish.
