Antique Ethiopian gurade sabre - 19th Menelik II period. The massive grip is not wood. Large heavy blade with beautiful floral engravings (both sides).

On one side, the block forte retains an interesting and likely local marking in Ethiopian alphabet. Scabbard is strong red leather (maybe goat leather). Scabbard is a bit short. The hilt has a slot.

The whole thing is strong and solid, no movement. Length with scabbard 94cm (37 in).

Length without scabbard 94cm (37 in). Blade length 80cm (311/2 in).

Weight with scabbard 790gr (27,86 oz). Weight without scabbard 672gr (23,7 oz).
