Antique Islamic Damascus Mamluk Persian Silver Copper Inlaid Brass Adam/eve Tray

The tray dates from the early 1900's circa 1900 - 1920. The tray itself is made from brass, but has been inlaid with silver and copper. The silver and copper inlay is used to created the different figures and detailing. The tray has been inlaid with a scene portraying Adam and Eve. I have seen other trays with biblical style scenes, however this is the first time I have seen a tray portraying Adam and Eve.

It is an EXTREMELY RARE scene. In the centre we can see the apple tree with the.

Wrapped around it, along with both Adam and Eve either side of the tree. There are lots of different animals inlaid with silver and completed with copper detailing. These animals and the overall scene represent the Garden of Eden. There is also some Arabic calligraphic script inlaid with silver too.

There is very fine hand chased detailing to the brass background, as well as on the silver and copper inlaid detailing. The tray is an absolutely stunning example.

You really have to view it for yourself to appreciate the breathtaking workmanship that has gone into creating this masterpiece. It is a very very rare example indeed. The diameter of the tray is 70.3. Cm = 27.8 inches. The tray is in excellent condition overall.
