A Remarkable and Beautiful Antique Islamic Large Oil Painting on Canvas probably from end of 19th Century Qajar Dynasty or Early 20th Century Pahlavi Dynasty. This is a Beautiful Painting known as SHAMAYEL, or the Islamic Icon Painting of Ali Ibn Abi Taleb. Sahamayel Paintings were very popular in Safavid and Qajar Dynasties. They are known in the west as Islamic Icons similar to Christian Orthodox Paintings on Wood Panels.

In this particular painting you can see Ali Ibn Abi Taleb in the Middle with His Sword and his two Sons known as Hasaneyn on each side. Imam Hussain and Imam Hassan were two sons of Ali Ibn Abi Taleb and Grandchildren of Prophet Muhammad.

In front of them you can see a Beautiful Lion sitting on the ground. Imam Ali was Known as Asad Allah or the Lion of God for his bravery. The lion's face is very beautiful and looks at you eyes from any direction in the room that you look at him. It is done so masterfully that it seems the eyes are following you from any direction. In the background of the painting you can see a Beautiful City with Islamic Architecture and a Mosque on one side and a Palm Trees on the other side.
