Antique Islamic Tuareg takuba sword (sabre) North Africa late 19th Early 20th

Antique Islamic Tuareg takuba sword (sabre) - North Africa late 19th Early 20th. Very sharp double edged straight blade. Both sides of the blade remains 4 very nice maker's marks.

It is still impressive to see how the blades of Takuba are sharp and flexible and should have been very efficient. (A nice French movie in which you an see Tuaregs and Takubas is "Fort Saganne" starring Gérard Depardieu). Grip and guard are iron covered with decorated leather. Scabbard is strong decorated leather. The blade has slight movement.

The 2 leather straps of the scabbard were cut and are missing (see picture 6). The blade does not fill completely the scabbard (see picture 7).

Length 103cm (40 1/2 in). Length without scabbard 103cm (40 1/2 in).
