The original paint of red and yellow on the legs, brass engraved adornments and the star are all for the ritual alter table. It is a sacred piece and would have set upon a table with an incense burner and other items. The age I can place is late 1700-very early 1800s era.

The origin is Middle Eastern and has a value of 1200.00-1400.00 It appears to have been kept in great condition and well cared for. The nail heads I have been able to see by enlarging the photos are hand forged and authentic. The engraving design is Islamic. The earliest geometrical forms in Islamic art were occasional isolated geometric shapes such as 8-pointed stars and lozenges containing squares. It comes from a smoke and pet free home.
