ANTIQUE OTTOMAN ERA ISLAMIC ARAB YATAGAN SWORD DAGGER SOLID SILVER CORAL 19TH C. Rare, antique Turkish Ottoman Islamic Yatagan sword / long dagger - probably Balkan region, circa 1850. The carved handle is inset with mother-of-pearl and red coral beads - it is also bound with a silver ribbon with 2 silver plaques over the base of the blade.
Good quality blade, hand-forged with a wide top ridge, steel shows a nice grain. Excellent, solid silver sheath - highly ornate repousse work of flowers and scrolls with a shell-form tip.
Overall condition is very good for the age - a few beads missing on the handle - part of the silver ribbon missing, on top of the handle and a small loss on top of the silver sheath - please view detailed pictures.
