The kashkul is very finely carved with several lines of Persian script, there is also floral carving & carvings of game animals birds, rabbits etc. There is one larger panel to the top of a lion hunting a deer. The bowl has a silver chain, condition is excellent no damage or repair, size is; 12" (30.5cm) long x 6" (15cm) wide. The kashkul came from the estate of famous American scholar and archaeologist Thomas Whittemore, t his is a highly important investment quality piece of Islamic art in great condition.
