PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT MY OTHER ITEMS FOR MORE MIDDLE EASTERN / ISLAMIC ITEMS. For sale we have this breathtakingly fine antique late Qajar tray dating from circa 1910 - 1920 or so. In the centre there is a stunning hand chased depiction of "The Shah's Mosque". The mosque was built during the Safavid era and is a very famous and important architectural site. The tray has been signed by the artist.
It also states the workshop the artist worked at. The hand chasing is extremely fine. The level of detail is unbelievable. The brickwork, and calligraphic inscriptions on the tiles have all been worked into this breathtaking depiction. Please look closely at all the photos, as the photos show the true level of detail more than any words can.You really need to hold this tray in your hands and examine every inch of it to truly appreciate the immense level of detail that has gone into completing this masterpiece. There are deeply hand chased floral branches with birds incorporated into the branches as they nestle on the branches. Further floral motifs frame the central landscape all the way around the tray as well as on the four edges too.
The length of the tray is 46cm = 18.1 inches. The width of the tray is 32.6cm = 12.8 inches. The tray is in very good condition overall.
Some scratches on the surface due to use, but consistent with age. Please see the photos shown above.
