An early 19th century North Persian cutlass in the form of a kindjal, 62cm single edged blade (stained) rising to a point, 3 fullers either side of varying depth, the etched script in the cartouche one one side of the blade near the hilt reads "THERE IS NO HERO LIKE ALI AND NO SWORD LIKE ZULFAQAR(ZULFIKAR)", the horn hilt secured by 3 rivets, 2 domed, both sides of the tang with traces of gold damascene work, contained in the original wooden leather covered sheath with iron suspension ring also with traces of gold damascene work and an iron chape.
