Excellent Middle Eastern Shamshir Sword with Verses on the Blade

An exceptional shamshir bearing inscriptions over entire blade surfaces. Nice horn grip with silver mameluke cross guard, brass scabbard shows traces of gold gilt. Sword and scabbard is 36.5" with blade alone measuring 30" in a straight line along spine from blade tip to guard. Blade is covered with chiseled inscriptions on each side. The silver crossguard is retained by a single rivet and does have some movement, but horn grip is tight and solid to the blade. Scabbard throat, or the last 6 section of scabbard can be removed showing old wood. Blade fits the scabbard like a glove with guard langets fitting perfectly into scabbard recesses.
