FATEH AL MOUDARRES Middle Eastern Modern Art painting antique Syria 1966
Signed in Arabic and signed'Moudarres' (lower right). Damascus 1966' (on the reverse). 29.5 x 35.5. Fateh al Moudarres was a Syrian born artist and best known for his importance during the Modern Art Movement in the Middle East. The provenance of this piece is an important factor that helped shape the Modern Art Movement in the Middle East during the mid 1900's. I acquired this beautiful painting from the estate of a U. Colonel who worked at the United States Embassy Office in Damascus, Syria during the 1960's. He worked as an Arab linguist and military attaché up until the late 1960's. While living in Syria he and his wife collected many beautiful pictorial rugs, furnitur e; by Tarazi Maison Sr. And many more artworks from Lebanon and Jerusalem.
This painting is one of the two Fateh al Moudarres painting's that I acquired from their estate. Thankfully , I have been able to preserve their art collection and ephemeral.
Pieces in the collection include another Fateh Moudarres painting, and other artworks from the region. There are also artworks from immediate f amily members who were notable artist from The Netherlands and painted the Matte Movie bac kgrounds for Selznick Studios and Paramount, notable Anthropologists and early Art Dealers sailing from Europe to The United States.
The painting is in great condition with no tears or holes. A few minor nicks on the frame that is normal with age. Please message me with any questions you have and will reply back as soon as I can.
