A rare antique Persian circular lantern hand made from solid thick and heavy gauge tinned copper, finely pierced with scrolling foliate decorations and wavy motifs. Circa 18th-19th Century Qajar period. Inside there is a small metal tray with tube to hold a candle. The lantern used to have flexible inner core that would extend when opened (please see the last image for reference).
The core is missing and two metal parts were joined together with metal wire ties. A fine example of Persian Qajar metalwork in good antique condition with signs of age and use, minor dings and dents and losses to tinned surface.
