Huge Antique Persian Mirror w Enameled Repousse Silver Frame-Islamic/Russian

A very big Persian mirror with enameled repousse silver frame. The body of the frame seems to be made of paper mache, but it is covered completely with sheets of repousse silver. The repousse decorations cover the silver sheets all over on the back and the front. On the front they depict several ancient Persian kings from before and after Islam. On the back they feature four panels, each contain scenes of parties and feasts in the usual Persian miniature style manner.

On the front there are 10 panels of calligraphic inscriptions in Arabic. The silver cover for the frame is in almost perfect condition. In particular, all the beautiful enamels are intact.

The mirror itself is also in a very good condition, regarding its age. There are just a few very tiny points where the metal coating behind the glass is eroded, but for most part the mirror looks great. SIZE: This is a really big Persian repousse mirror. The who thing (including the frame) measures about 17" X 12".
