HUGE FINEST QUALITY ANTIQUE PERSIAN QAJAR ISLAMIC SIGNED COPPER TRAY C1800's
This item was originally listed to end on Sunday 17th January. However I ended the listing, but relisted it so that it will end the following Sunday, on the 24th January. The hand chased tray is one of the most detailed examples I have come across - literally every inch of the tray has been adorned with breathtaking scenes. The Qajar tray dates from the early 1900's, near the end of the Qajar era. It is signed by the maker "Reza Hafez Esfahani". In the centre of the tray, there is a magnificent village scene with various people all portraying some different. For example if you look at the photos you will see there is a tribemans riding a donkey, a shephard with his flock of sheep, a farmer plowing his land using cows, there is a woman milking cows, and a woman cooking too. There are even more scenes going all the way around the tray, carefully hand chased in beautiful cartouches, decorated with a floral shape. This tray is one of the most beautiful I have seen. Not only is it very large and with immensely fine quality, it also tells its own story. You can sit and look at each individual person on the tray and study the little details such as clothing/facial expressions, along with seeing what they are actually doing, and you can imagine their own little stories to go with the scenes.
This really is a charming and very interesting tray. There is also beautiful dense floral patterns in the background. It is truly a work of art of breathtaking quality and it is a very interesting collectible piece. The diameter of the tray is a huge 85cm. The tray is in excellent condition.
