Large sterling silver Islamic box, 19th -20th century Egypt - former Turkish Ottoman Empire. The box of oval shape entirely hand hammered of solid sterling silver splendidly decorated in traditional. In repoussé and finely chiseled with floral decorated panels, the rounded sides with two handles, the hinged lid tapering to a bulbous gadrooned top applied with perching peacock finial.

The bottom of the box, hinge of the cover, tail of the peacock, top of the handles and the hinges of the handles are stamped in with small, square Egyptian assay office hallmarks with Arabic number for the silver over 900 grade. Length; 10 inches (24.8cm).

Weight: 1066 grams =37.6 ounces. Condition: In good condition considering its age showing the age and usage. All items are guaranteed to be authentic antiques, and not reproductions.
