Middle Eastern Persian Islamic Repousse Incised Tinned Copper 13.5 Wall Plaque. Being offered for your consideration is this antique hand crafted Middle Eastern tinned copper wall plaque from the first quarter of the 20th Century. The wall plaque has 20 deep petal lobes around the border with intricate incised floral and foliage decorations.

These lobes surround a central circular repousse image of a King on horseback bearing a dagger in his right hand; holding in his left hand the lower jaw of what appears to be a large serpent or dragon like creature. The creature is coiled around the King and his horse. The horse also appears to be aiding the King by firmly holding part of the creature's body in its mouth. It appears to be a victory for the King and his horse, but we don't know the whole story and are describing as best we can what we see! This tinned copper plaque is in very good condition for its age and has one small bend above a lobed petal at the outer edge at the 1 o'clock position. This small bend is not easily noticeable, but we mention it for accuracy. This was acquired over 40 years ago at a Collector's Fair and has been displayed on a wall in our home. It's a handsome example of Middle Eastern metalwork that would make a wonderful addition to your collection! Please take the time to carefully examine all the photographs for more details. Measurements: The wall plaque measures approximately 13.5 across in diameter.

It measures approximately 1-3/4 in height off the table near the rim. This copper plaque weighs approximately 1 lb, 7 ounces. All measurements are approximate, but close. Condition: We carefully examined this item. As mentioned in the description, there is one bend on the top edge in the 1 o'clock position.

This is as we acquired it and in our opinion, not distracting (see photographs #1, 4 and 12). The tinned finish over the copper appears to have been worn away by previous owners who polished it, but the copper has beautifully toned over the years to a mellow color that we appreciate better. Some metal polish residue remains, but could be cleaned off if desired by the new owner.

Other than that, the copper plaque still displays handsomely on the wall or on a stand. NO Breaks, Scratches, Repairs or Restorations were noted.
