Model of Arab Carpet Sellers & Camel. Vintage 1920S Art Striker or Lighter

This is a fabulous ORIGINAL 1920s / 1930s vintage table lighter or striker. It lights with a special wand or striker - and is probably a more specialist item for the collector of vintage and antique strikers or smoking accessories.

It is very sculptural in form and you could also display it as a sculptural piece in your interior. The striker is made of spelter and is cold painted - the colours are just lovely and in the most excellent condition - and the colours have a golden shimmer of the desert about them with lots of metallic finish. A nice display piece, it is about 7 inches in height - and with a width of about 6 1/4 inches. The sculpture takes the form of two Arabian carpet sellers - they have arrived at the market - the older gentleman walks in front of his camel and leads him by a rope (finely modelled from metal and intact - these are often damaged). The younger man sits on a cushion cross-legged on the top of the camel and unravels his beautiful carpet - it is fringed with silver and the main carpet section has red and blue diamond shapes and more silver highlights.

The camel is just beautifully modelled and has a shimmering burnished gold finish to the metal to resemble bronze. The striker is sure a fine one - and although made of spelter you can see that it is certainly a quality item and very decorative - you won't see one in such fine condition so often.

This striker is made in the form of the famous modeller in bronze Bergman - many people try to pass these off as original Bergman bronzes - but this is not correct. This model is a fine antique not a reproduction! Cold painted spelter table striker - and dates to the early 20th Century.
