A large and rare museum quality example of a late 18th / early 19th century Qajar Persian dhal shield, decorated in the finest of steel, silver and goldwork. This beautiful Qajar dynasty shield has been decorated with chiseled steel and engraved flowers and foliage, with 16 silvered Persian script panels bordering the centre of the shield. The centre of the shield displays four bosses and 13 silver vignettes of floral displays. A most incredible dhal of deep convex form. For a similar example of shield please see Sotherbys, London.
