For sale is is this breathtaking antique Persian solid silver box. The box has been hand chased by a very important and famous silversmith - MOHAMMAD TAGHI. Mohammad Taghi's works are of the superior quality as you can see from this marvelous box. His works are relatively rare and hard to come by.
There is a fantastic scene of a woman dancing and a man is seated drinking. The scene is of Omar Khayam I believe. There is also some stunning floral motifs hand chased with deep, crisp lines. The side of the box has been chased with a very fine floral pattern, with birds among the foliage. It has been tested and is guaranteed to be solid silver of high purity 875 grade.
It has been hallmarked with the numbers 84 and also have been hallmarked with the maker's name - MOHAMMAD TAGHI. The 84 hallmark represents silver purity of 87.5%. It was introduced into Persia by the Soviet Union (Russians) in the early 1900's. The length of the box is 16cm. The width of the box is 8.4cm The height of the box is 3cm. The box weighs a very impressive 351 grams. The box is in excellent condition.Sometimes certain items will not be packed together if one of them is very fragile.
