Very nice Syrian shamshir battle saber, most likely to date from around mid 1800s and wearing a very good quality Persian made blade of fine Wootz damascus steel, having raised false edge area and featuring very nice chiseled panels with Islamic calligraphy having gold inlaid background and carved maker mark cartouches on reverse, blade has been polished over the years now exhibiting nice light patina and areas of scattered pitting, showing very fine watered patterns of Wootz steel throughout the length. Steel cross guard and large pommel cap showing traces of silver koftgari work, grips of bull horn profusely inlaid with brass and white metal inlays, side straps of brass showing engraved floral designs.

The ferrule having silver wire bondage also covering top portion of the guard. Overall solid and in battle ready condition, remaining very sharp edge and excellent balance.
