Superb Tuareg takuba sword (sabre) - North Africa, first half 20th century. This takuba is of a great quality. It is rare to find a example as this one and absolutely complete and original.

Localy forged (not an European imported blade). Both sides of the blade are etched 2 traditional crescents moon. Handle is made of brass and copper covered with decorated leather. Scabbard is made of strong decorated leather with 1 silver plated bass fitting.

There are still present the traditional cotton straps for holding the takuba. Length 96cm (37 3/4 in). Length without scabbard 95cm (37 1/2 in). Blade length 80cm (31 1/2 in). Weight without 629gr (22,2oz).
