Turkey Ottoman antique GILT-COPPER (TOMBAK) coffee Ewer. The bulbous body rising from a splayed base to a ringed neck, curving spout.

Cast curved handle, tapering domed hinged cover with bud knop. The body and lid decorated with finely engraved palmette motif. Diameter of bowl: 7.3 cm. Some age and use wear.

Small dents to bowl, lower edge of base and to top of spout. Crack (tear) to top of spout ca. Tombac, as it is spelled in French, or Tombak, is a brass alloy with high copper content and 5-20% zinc content. [1] Tin, lead or arsenic may be added for colouration.
