Early example of the Indo-Persian shamshir saber having various features typical of the 17th and early 18th century sabers, very distinctive iron mounts having down turned guard finials in the form of the beast heads with partially worn gold koftgari work to the guard and side straps of the grip, fine grips of very early style and very early iron suspension mounts of the scabbard with later fabric and brass drag. Mounted with a very broad curved large fullered blade showing interesting watered patterns of damascus steel, exhibiting nice gray patina evenly distributed throughout the length and featuring slightly broadened tip area of the blade. Overall solid and intact with original wood of the scabbard having some wear consistent with the age.
