Very nice mid to late 19th century Arabic Saif saber in Solid Silver mounts profusely decorated with various filigree and engraved details, front of the scabbard top mount bearing an engraved signature of possibly owner's name or perhaps a specific Koranic passage meant to protect the owner of the weapon. Cattle bone grips undamaged and showing lovely patina, leather over wood scabbard with very large silver mounts, missing a short strap of leather and retaining its fabulous original braided cord with tassels, mostly intact and showing very light wear consistent with the age.
Mounted with a broad lightly curved multi fullered blade which retains excellent sharp edge and exhibits nice rich patina with few areas showing interesting light watered patterns to the steel. Solid and overall intact, this real and authentic Fighting saber has possibly been later used in the 1962 movie "Lawrence of Arabia" according to the tag which came with the sword.
