The lion and the sun are one of the national symbols of Iran and used to be an element of the Iranian flag. The motif depicting ancient and modern Iranian traditions became a popular symbol in Iran in the 12th century. The Leo and Sun symbol is largely based on astronomical and astrological configurations. The motif has many historical meanings. First, it was just an astrological and zodiac symbol, as a scientific and secular motif. During the Safavid and early Qajar shahs, it was more connected with Shia Islam. During the Qajar era, it became a national emblem.
From the Qajar period to the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the emblem changed many times, and after the revolution it was removed and replaced with today's coat of arms. For 20 years, we have been supplying valuable and respected collectors in the fields of collections and antiques.
