Vintage Iznik Style Polychrome Kutahya Tile, 1925-1950 Turkey with Armenian Bole

Vintage Iznik Style Kutahya Tile. Second Quarter of the 20th Century. The use of the characteristic under glazed colors of pale green, blue, turquoise, the Armenian red bole, and, the floral painting styles identify it as Kutahya.

Though never successfully matching the colors of the old Iznik wares' originals, tiles were produced in Kutahya for monument restorations at various ateliers. Size: 25 x 25 cm (10 x 10 inch). The tile is about 1.5 cm (½ inch) thick. The tile exhibits small scratches, surface crackling, minor stains and minor edge chips. We endeavor to describe all items to our best ability. We note the obvious "observed" defects and the condition of the items we sell.
