Vintage Middle Eastern/Persian Islamic Silver Wedding/Ceremonial Cake Slice

Middle Eastern Silver Cake Server. A highly decorative Middle Eastern silver cake slice. It is likely mid 20th century and has a chased design to the body and the handle.

There is a lip to one edge of the body to assist with serving. It was likely intended for weddings or other ceremonies rather than general use due to the high price this would had been when made. There are marks to the reverse that are not particularly clear unless under high magnification. They include the silver control marks and perhaps also the makers marks.

I have been unable to ascertain the maker but it is most likely of the Persian region. The slice is heavy for it's type and the maker did not scrimp on the silver. There is no sign of steel reinforcement inside the handle there being no magnetic pull, although it is possible there is a non-ferrous strengthening bar. It certainly is a lovely piece, whether you are looking for a special occasion item for a wedding etc or as a collectors piece. Very good, just some slight wear and a few scuffs underneath from use/sitting on a hard surface.
